Birkenstock product data

With roots tracing back to 1774 in Germany, Birkenstock is a footwear brand built on a multi-generational legacy of orthopedic shoemaking. Its identity is inseparable from the invention of its anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed, a design that prioritizes function and foot health, which was first developed into a sandal by Karl Birkenstock in 1963. Originally finding a foothold in the U.S. through health food stores in the 1960s, the brand became an emblem of the counter-culture movement, valued for its utilitarian comfort and non-conformist appeal.
