Founded in 1977 in Carpi, Italy, by Anna Molinari and her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini, Blumarine emerged from the couple’s love for the color blue and the sea. Molinari, dubbed the “Queen of Roses,” established a distinctly romantic and sensual aesthetic, building a reputation for delicate knits, floral prints, and feminine silhouettes that defined Italian fashion with a playful and glamorous spirit. Signature elements from its early days include luxurious cardigans, often with fur trim, and the use of rose and later butterfly motifs as brand symbols. The house's provocative edge was sharpened through iconic 90s campaigns shot by Helmut Newton, which cemented its image of seductive, yet romantic, femininity.
