Comme Des Garçons Shirt product data

Launched in 1988 by founder Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garçons Shirt is a diffusion line that isolates and reimagines the most fundamental garment in the male wardrobe. The line serves as a more accessible entry point into the brand's universe, translating the avant-garde principles of the main collection into wearable, yet intellectually playful, menswear. Initially focused exclusively on shirting, the collection has since expanded to include knitwear, trousers, and outerwear, all characterized by inventive tailoring, whimsical graphics, and clever use of patchwork and pattern. Produced primarily in France, the Shirt line subverts traditional notions of menswear with a distinctive and often colorful approach that contrasts with the darker, more sculptural forms of the mainline. It has become a canvas for notable collaborations with artists and brands such as KAWS, Futura, and Asics, blending high-fashion concepts with streetwear sensibilities. By deconstructing and rebuilding a simple wardrobe staple, the brand consistently challenges the conventions of everyday dressing, appealing to a style-conscious audience that values both creativity and craftsmanship.
