Founded in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc, a former manager for the electronic music duo Daft Punk, and Masaya Kuroki, an architect-turned-designer, Maison Kitsuné began as a multi-faceted creative endeavor blending a fashion line, music label, and coffee shops. The brand’s identity is rooted in the cultural interplay between Paris and Tokyo, offering a contemporary wardrobe that balances sharp, clean design with a distinctively playful and relaxed spirit. Known for its versatile fox logo—'Kitsuné' is the Japanese word for fox, a symbol of versatility—the brand applies this emblem across a range of elevated staples, from tailored outerwear and crisp shirting to soft-knit sweaters and graphic tees. Maison Kitsuné’s collections often reinterpret classic preppy and streetwear silhouettes with a focus on quality materials and wearable, comfort-focused designs. This unique approach has cultivated a loyal global following that values the brand’s “Art de Vivre” (Art of Living) philosophy. Beyond clothing, the brand extends its cultural footprint through the influential indie electronic label Kitsuné Musique and the growing international chain of Café Kitsuné outposts. Notable collaborations with brands like Montblanc, Puma, Ader Error, and Barbour further underscore its ability to navigate and merge diverse creative worlds, solidifying its role as a modern lifestyle curator.
