Launched in 1995, the Raf Simons brand emerged from Antwerp as a rebellious yet refined voice in menswear. Initially trained as an industrial and furniture designer, Raf Simons pivoted to fashion after a transformative internship with Walter Van Beirendonck. His eponymous label quickly gained a cult following for its sharp tailoring combined with references to diverse youth subcultures, from the Gabber scene to New Wave and Punk. The brand's aesthetic is characterized by a blend of precise, minimalist silhouettes and emotionally charged graphics, often exploring themes of individuality, rebellion, and the anxieties of modern youth. Over its 27-year history, the Raf Simons brand has been celebrated for its innovative approach to menswear, influencing a generation of designers and shaping the contemporary wardrobe. The label was known for its collaborations with artists like Sterling Ruby and its long-standing partnership with brands such as Fred Perry and Adidas. While the brand has now closed, its legacy continues to resonate within the fashion world, with archival pieces highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
