Founded in 1972 by Ernest Montoya—who began selling Native American handmade jewelry out of his car after returning from Vietnam—Sunwest Silver has grown into a leading source for authentic Southwestern jewelry. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the brand is deeply rooted in the heritage of Native American artistry and turquoise mining. Sunwest Silver operates its own turquoise mines, including Carico Lake and New Lander, providing distinctive stones for its network of established and emerging Native artisans.
